Dr. Bruce Skinner joined the University in 2000 and has served as the Director of Residence Life since 2006. In his role as Director of Residence Life, Skinner is responsible for setting direction and policy for on-campus housing, supervising the Residence Life Staff, coordinating vending services and central office operations, working closely with Chartwells Dining Services, and working with students and other University staff members to administer policies and operational procedures for the Office of Residence Life.

Skinner is a Southeast Missouri State University graduate, earning his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Southeast. Skinner completed is doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a research focus on public funding of higher education.
In addition to serving as Director of Residence Life, Skinner is an adjunct instructor in the Department of Political Science, Philosophy, and Religion where he teaches courses on American government. Skinner also has responsibility for contract management of the dining services program through Chartwells Dining Services and the Campus Health Clinic through Southeast Missouri Hospital.

Skinner is married to a Southeast Missouri State University alumnus, who he met in the residence halls as an undergraduate, and is the father of two daughters. Outside of the office, Skinner is an avid cyclist and enjoys working in the community through various organizations including Rotary International, the Cape Go Green Council, and serving as an Advisor for the Delta Chi Fraternity.
