Lawful Permanent Residence (LPR) status is reserved for foreign nationals who want to live in the United States permanently. An individual can become a LPR through many avenues. An individual can acquire permanent residence through 1) Family, (2) Employment, or (3) Public/Humanitarian Policy.
Southeast Missouri State University will only assist with employment based petitions which require the university to function as the employer sponsor/petitioner on behalf of the foreign national. It is the policy of Southeast Missouri State University that all requests for Lawful Permanent Residence be approved by the Department Head Dean and the Provost Office.
An immigration attorney must process the petition and all fees associated with the filing of the petition. The filing process is the sole responsibility of the international faculty member.
