The University's paid time off program is designed to give you greater flexibility with time off and the opportunity to manage your own paid time off. You decide how to use your earned time off, and together with your supervisor, you decide what appropriate time off will be without affecting staffing levels.
A supervisor is responsible for assuring that the business of the work group can be conducted at all times. Requests for vacation and personal business leave are subject to the needs of the department. You should establish department procedures for scheduling vacation in your work unit, so that all requests are handled consistently.
Supervisors are responsible for maintaining accurate records. Completed leave forms and doctor's verifications are kept in the Benefits and Payroll Offices for a period of 2 years and then should be archived to storage.
Our Leaves policy will provide guidelines on definition of leave, eligibility, procedure for applying for and obtaining approval, what happens to your benefits during the leave, and what forms to be completed.
