The International Student Association at Southeast Missouri State University provides all international students the opportunity to get involved on campus. The ISA provides cultural programming to enhance cross-cultural understanding at the university and in the Cape Girardeau community. In addition, the organization aids in communication among international students and between international and domestic students. All international students enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University are members of the International Student Association and are encouraged to participate in meetings, events, and programming.
Orphee Engonga Ondo is a graduate student in Technology Management from Gabon. He also lived in The Netherlands and France while growing up and studied in Washington, DC before coming to Southeast Missouri State University. Orphee's unique experiences provide a different perspective on what it is to be an international student and give him the ability to communicate and relate to most international and domestic students.
Saqib is an undergraduate student in Engineering from Pakistan. Saqib has a long history of involvement with programs, sports, and politics back home, which have helped him develop strong leadership skills. These skills in leadership and communication will aid Orphee and the International Student Association in developing a stronger presence on campus and off.
May is a Technology Management graduate student. She comes to Southeast from Myanmar (Burma). May completed her Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering at Assumption University in Thailand. May is dedicated to helping her fellow international students and has worked as an orientation leader for the Office of International Education and Services.
Gosh is a Junior majoring in Finance. While born in Pakistan, Gosh was raised in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. Prior to coming to Southeast, Gosh attended Lake Land College in Illinois. He has also been actively involved on and off campus, providing assistance to fellow international students and doing presentations about growing up in Dubai. Gosh's experience and his current, and growing, knowledge of finance will greatly assist the International Student Association as it establishes a financial foundation for the future.
Asif is an Engineering Physics major from Bangladesh. He is committed to creating more opportunities for all students to participate in events and programming that showcase the variety of cultures we have at Southeast. He believes the International Student Association has the ability to rise above perceived cultural boundaries among students on campus.
Valerie came to Southeast Missouri State University from China. She is a sophomore in the Harrison College of Business, majoring in marketing. Her enthusiasm for the international student community and studies in marketing will enable the International Student Association to market and publicize events and programming to the international students and campus community.
Raphael has just arrived to Southeast Missouri State University from France. He is a double major in Biology and Chemistry. Raphael volunteered to help with new international students during Fall 2011 Orientation, even though he was a new student himself. His concern for his fellow students and his eagerness to be involved make him an excellent representative for international students and the International Student Association.
Payel is a graduate student from India studying Exercise Science and Nutrition. She has been an active member of the international student community since her arrival at Southeast. She regularly volunteers to help with events, orientation, and programming to assist her fellow students in transitioning to life in the United States and an American university environment.
