How can I benefit from this degree?
The 2+2 degree in industrial technology is designed to assist individuals who have completed an approved technical program and desire to complete a Bachelor of Science Degree that will prepare them for industrial supervision or management positions.
Why is this program referred to as a "2+2" degree?
Students in this 2+2 program must first satisfactorily complete an Associate of Applied Science Degree from an accredited institution in an industrial or engineering technology-related field with a minimum 2.0 GPA (4.0 scale). The Associate of Applied Science Degree can be from St. Louis Community College or another regionally accredited two-year institution. Students without an AAS degree can enroll in the industrial management option.
Which institution will grant the B.S. degree upon completion?
The completed B.S. Degree will be a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from Southeast Missouri State University. Upon being admitted to the university, students will be governed by the academic policies and degree requirements in place at Southeast.
Why is this degree considered to be “cooperative”?
The program is available entirely in the St. Louis area through a combination of courses and services offered by the cooperating institutions.
Which institutions are cooperating to make this degree possible?
The Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology within the School of Polytechnic Studies at Southeast Missouri State University and the Engineering and Technology Department at St. Louis Community College – Florissant Valley make this degree possible.
Will each student’s course requirements be the same?
The requirements needed for each student to complete the program will vary, depending upon previous credit. Generally, students will need to complete a minimum of 120 hours of coursework with a minimum of 30 hours of technical management courses delivered by Southeast Missouri State University, and 39 hours of upper-level courses delivered by Southeast or another four-year granting institution. Students must stay in close contact with Brett Richardson, Program Coordinator, for advising.
Are further opportunities available after I complete my B.S. degree?
Southeast Missouri State University also delivers a Master of Science in Industrial Management to St. Louis. Completion of the Bachelor Degree in Technology Management prepares students for acceptance into the Master’s degree program.
How will the Southeast courses be taught?
Students will complete the Southeast courses in the evenings, on the weekends, and via the internet. Delivery formats will include face-to-face, web-enhanced (a combination of face-to-face and web instruction), web-based, and interactive television.
What websites will be used to deliver Southeast classes?
The undergraduate courses that are delivered to St. Louis will be offered through classes at St. Louis Community College in Florissant Valley (face-to-face, and web-enhanced) and online (web-enhanced, and web only).
Will I need my own computer to complete this program?
Students should expect that a significant portion of their coursework will be completed online. Therefore, it is highly recommended that students obtain computer technology with internet access prior to enrolling in an online class. Students without computers can access the internet and web-courses through the SLCC Engineering Computer Lab. Southeast students have access to the SE Computer Services Help Desk to answer course technology issues.
