Certification
Engineering Technology
Engineering Technology students are eligible to take several examinations to obtain certifications in addition to their degrees. Certifications are highly regarded by industry and can be helpful to students in securing employment and obtaining higher salaries.
Electrical and Control Option
Electrical and Control students are required to take the Certified Control Systems Technician test offered by the Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society (ISA).

Mechanical & Manufacturing Option
Manufacturing students are required to take the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) certification, Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT). Certification through SME’s Manufacturing Engineering Certification Institute (MECI/SME) is a program of professional documentation and recognition of an individual’s manufacturing-related knowledge, skills, and capabilities. By becoming certified, you join an elite group of manufacturing professionals who have documented their manufacturing skills and knowledge.
Other certifications available after graduation and relevant work experience include:
- Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE)
- Certified Enterprise Integrator (CEI)
- Certified Engineering Manager (CEM)

Technology Management
Technology Management students are eligible to take several examinations to obtain certifications in addition to their degrees. Certifications are highly regarded by the industry and can be helpful to students in securing employment and obtaining higher salaries.
Graduates of the Technology Management major, which includes any of the options, are eligible for the Certified Manufacturing Specialist (CMS), Certified Senior Manufacturing Specialist (CSMS), Certified Technology Manager (CTM, formerly CIT), Certified Senior Technology Manager (CSTM, formerly CSIT) through the Association of Technology Management and Applied Engineering (ATMAE).
