Fundementals of Economic Development One-Day Conference (4/22/2008)
This seminar will be presented in a series of 45 minute presentations with topics covered similar to the core concepts included in professional economic development trainings across the country.  This is designed to give the non-professional a basic understanding of economic development stategies and  tools.
Community Leadership Program Kick-Off in Ste. Genevieve (3/27/2008)
The Operation Jump-Start Community Leadership Initiative is made possible by grants provided by the USDA Rural Development and the Missouri Department of Economic Development.  Ste. Genevieve, pilot community for the initiative, is positioned for phase two.
The Think Tank, Forming Now (3/20/2008)
A new club for student entrepreneurs is currently being formed. Students from all disciplines are invited to attend an informational meeting on April 9, 2009, at the Southeast Innovation Center.
Local Entrepreneur's Work to be Featured (3/19/2008)
A local photographer will exhibit her work during the month of May at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri. Her photo grouping hopes to convey an environmental friendly message.
Recent Grant Provides Resources for Additional Entrepreneurial Training (3/19/2008)
This 2nd tier training is a valuable resource to small business owners who are growing and might be facing additional challenges.
Small Business Training Success in the Bootheel (3/19/2008)
The most recent Operation Jump-Start small business training course graduated 28 from the Bootheel region in Februrary.  The course featured two classes, a day and an evening class, which allowed participants more flexibility for attendance and may have contributed to the 90% graduation rate.
SBDC Client Honored at State Conference (2/8/2008)
Cape Girardeau-based Technology and Networking, Inc., was honored by the state legistlature in January at the annual SBDC conference in Jefferson City.  Sr. Business Counselor, Larry Cooper, nominated Technology and Networking, Inc., as an SBDC client who has had significant economic development impact in this region.
SBDC Receives Dual-State Top Award (12/19/2007)
The SBDC recently received state recognition for its efforts counseling small businesses.


Southeast Apprentice Gears up for Spring 2008 (11/30/2007)

Season two of the Southeast Apprentice program will begin in January 2008. The for-credit course is being offered through the Harrison College of Business.


MRC Associate Recognized for Pediatric Asthma Program (10/24/2007)
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 7 has awarded the Missouri Research Corporation funding of $25,866 on behalf of Southeast Missouri State University’s Center for Environmental Analysis (CEA) to continue implementing an innovative pediatric asthma program in southeast Missouri.
Southeast Innovation Center Instrumental in WIRED Initiative Implementation (10/24/2007)
Assistant Secretary for the Department of Labor, Emily Stover DeRocco, visited the Southeast Innovation Center during her trip to Cape Girardeau to kick-off the WIRED initiative in the region. The Innovation Center will be instrumental in the implemention of WIRED.
The Southeast Innovation Center Receives $164,800 to Expand Entrepreneurship Training (10/24/2007)
Operation Jump-Start continues to attract regional attention and received word that it is receiving $164,800 from the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) to expand its entrepreneurial training program into new territory.

SE Apprentice Winners Announced (12/13/2006)

Vickery Named SBDC Director (11/1/2006)
Bill Vickery has accepted the Director position at the Small Business Development Center at Southeast.  Effective October 1, 2006, Bill is both the SBDC Director and the Director of Entrepreneurship and Training for the Innovation Center.

Dennis Roedemeier is the chief executive officer of the Missouri Research Corp., a not-for-profit entity set up by the university to develop the technology park. He thinks the historic structure might be saved in a park-like setting complete with an old-fashioned garden.
University Looks at Defense Research (8/2/2006)
Southeast Missouri State University could receive $2 million in federal Defense Department funding to research blast-resistant barriers and buildings to protect troops from harm. Some of the money ultimately would go to Kontek, a firm in New Madrid, Mo., which makes blast-resistant barriers and is branching out into the manufacture of blast-resistant structures, university officials said.

Southeast Missouri Innovation Center Opens (9/1/2005)
Southeast Missouri’s first Innovation Center celebrated its opening with a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony today. The center offers business incubator space, entrepreneurial training, business development services, technical oversight and easy access to services needed by start-up entities.
