On the Mr. Bits and Bytes Web page is posted a story about Richard Holderbaugh from New Mexico.  When dot.com companies were failing, Richard put his Web design business on hold. That is until he attended the entrepreneurial training class in Park Hills, Mo., gained day-to-day business knowledge and was given grant funding to start his business in Jackson, Mo.

“When I first started this business back in 2000, it came close that my business would fail until I had received the knowledge that Bill taught me about business and marketing plans,” Richard said.
 
Richard says he can now use the knowledge gained from the entrepreneurial class to help his business clients “improve their marketing plan on the Internet. Now they are starting to see an increase of business with the services that I provide.”
 
Richard’s business plan was promising enough to receive a portion of the grant funding.  He said with the grant money, he was able to purchase two new computers, and a desktop and laptop with some design software. The purchase of the laptop has helped make his business mobile.

“I am able to take my laptop to any business and show them in person how I can market their business on the Internet,” he said. “And now this is how my business is becoming a success story.”
 
Mr. Bits & Bytes is listed with the Better Business Bureau and gaining more clients every month, Richard is happy to report.  He also says that many of the clients for whom he’s designed Web pages, are now experiencing increases in their businesses and some have hired extra staff.  He has found his clients’ success continually leads to more personal success.

“If it wasn't for the grant for purchasing the software and hardware, I would be struggling and I would probably not be in business today,”  Richard said.  “Now when I make my decisions ... I refer to my plans and use them to make final decisions.”
