Carpe Diem is the University’s annual cultural celebration, showcasing the diversity represented on campus.

Southeast is the proud home of students, faculty, and staff from over 60 countries and many diverse cultures, which are highlighted at the Carpe Diem event, attracting over 700 attendees every year!

Events like Carpe Diem are designed to feature the people and the cultures of the countries represented here at SEMO and to give us all a better, more sophisticated understanding of the world around us. For Carpe Diem, the Student Recreation Center is transformed into a world bazaar, where you can visit cultural booths hosted by students representative of the culture. At the cultural booths, there will be traditional food/snacks/sweets/beverages to try, educational information presented, and engaging activities to immerse yourself in the culture. On stage, you can enjoy students' cultural music & dance performances as well as the Global Fashion Show! You will not only learn more about your fellow Redhawks from around the world but also form stronger bonds within the University community. Through exposure to different languages, food, music, dance, and fashion, everyone who attends Carpe Diem can appreciate and celebrate diversity.

The SEMO community may log into our Carpe Diem Stream Channel to take a look at the cultural cooking tutorials, music & dance videos, and other cultural presentations that SEMO students and faculty/staff have created.
