Office of International Education and Services Scholarship

(For students with admission dates as of March 2012 or beyond)

Undergraduate Students

Newly admitted undergraduate students (new and transfer) in good academic standing are eligible for the Office of International Education and Services scholarship, in the amount of $2,000.00 ($1,000.00 per semester), starting in your first fall or spring term.

To continue receiving this scholarship, you must be a full-time student and have a Southeast GPA of 2.5 or higher.Please note that you will no longer be eligible for the scholarship if you are awarded a full scholarship from outside sources. The scholarship also may not be combined with Regents' or Governor's merit awards.

Returning undergraduate students (i.e. students who had a gap and did not enroll for at least one fall or spring term) are also eligible for this scholarship if they have 2.5 Southeast GPA and 2.5 transfer GPA (US and international credits combined) upon their return.

Graduate Students

Newly admitted graduate students (new and transfer) in good academic standing are eligible for the Office of International Education and Services scholarship, in the amount of $2,000.00 ($1,000.00 per semester),starting in your first fall or spring term.

To continue receiving this scholarship, you must be a full-time student and have a Southeast GPA of 3.0 or higher.Please note that you will no longer be eligible for the scholarship if you accept a graduate assistantship (GA) position or a full scholarship from outside sources.

Merit Scholarships

International students are also eligible for consideration for merit scholarships. Although no separate application is required to apply for merit scholarships, students must apply before the unique deadline(s) stated. Freshman merit applicants must submit application materials during the fall of their final year of high school, including official SAT/ACT scores.If awarded a merit scholarship, a scholarship offer packet will be mailed at a later date.Please note that if you are awarded the Regents' or Governors' merit scholarships, you are no longer eligible for the International Education and Services Scholarship referenced above.

Applicants who are not US citizens, US permanent residents or asylees are required to apply as international students through the Office of International Education and Services. Please follow instructions on page 1 when completing the form. You must retrieve and type the application online, then print signature and mail with supporting documents to complete.

The $40 application fee is non-refundable and cannot be waived. You may make payment using one of the following options:

Academic Records

  • Official Transcripts AND Graduate Confirmation or certified/attested copies of the original documents.
  • If your documents are not in English, you must also provide certified English translations.
  • Course descriptions are required along with official transcripts to determine credit transferability.
  • ONLY graduate applicants without 4+ year bachelor’s or previous master’s degree must submit an official evaluation by a current member ofNACES: http://www.naces.org/
  • Please do NOT send your only originals; all documents submitted become property of the University

Financial Proof

All fees are subject to change by the Board of Regents without prior written notice. We must receive proof of funds for at least one academic year in order to issue an I-20.

English Proficiency

  • Verification of English Proficiency is required for all programs except Intensive English Program or conditional admission.
  • You have to submit the official proficiency score appropriate to your level.
  • Applicants in good standing who have completed at least one academic year of full-time degree studies at an accredited American university or college may be considered for a waiver of the English language requirement.
  • Students from the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are exempt from English proficiency verification. Applicants with 2.5 or better GPA are waived SAT/ACT.
