Andrea Branum: Journal Entry 1/31/2005

This semester has started with an explosion of activity! The first week back to school was non-stop running here, there and everywhere in between! I had my schedule all made out and was ready for classes to start.  But, once I attended one of my classes, I realized the particular class was not at all what I was expecting it to be.  I had planned it to be my fun kind of stress relieving class, but it turned out to be more work than I was hoping for. Now I know you’re all thinking, yeah she just dropped the class because it was too hard.  Wrong, I didn’t need the class to fill any requirements and I noticed that one opening was available for a class that was both required for my major and filled the Artistic Expression, Photography! Yay! When I made my schedule last semester there were no openings for photography and now there was one! I was sooo happy! In fact, I rearranged my schedule so I could fit it in! So now my classes are PY 101 Psychological Perspectives on Human Behavior, SC 105 Fundamentals of Oral Communication, TG 120 Computer Aided Engineering Graphics, and TG 274 Photography Fundamentals. I love my new schedule, even though I have one night class, which is TG 120.

I went home last weekend (January 29-30) to see my family.  I went to bed Friday night to be awakened by a beautiful snowy world the next morning.  We had some freezing rain which made the snow stick very well onto the trees.  It was so neat! I knew that the snow might melt because it was already falling off of the trees so I hurried and dressed and went outside and took pictures of my street and local building.  That worked out perfectly because our first photography assignment is a cityscape or landscape. I was so happy that I am able to use my snow pictures for class!

Yesterday (January 30) was our first Emerging Leaders meeting.  I met a lot of new people.  It really surprised me just how many people I already knew who made it into Emerging Leaders.  We did fun leadership building activities in small groups.  That really helped me to get to know the people in the group and a little bit about them.  I strongly recommend Emerging Leaders to anyone who wants to get involved around campus.

I hope everyone has a great week! And until next time, God Bless!~Andrea
