Hi all! Time to play catch up on writing since I’ve been really busy lately! I’ve had tons and tons of homework! This semester seems like I have to do a lot more work and papers than last. I must say the photography is my favorite class. I love the whole process of developing and enlarging the film. It’s frustrating that my first 2 rolls of film turned out absolutely great and now my second two are all out of focus and way, way, way, too light. So tonight I’m headed to the open lab to try to print some, if possible. I have a job now. I work in the Public Services Office on campus. I don’t have many hours yet because I want to see how well I can juggle school and work. But, other than that it’s a great student job. I don’t think there could be a better one!
A word of advice to those who love do to crafty stuff (like me!), do not, I repeat, do not buy Crayola Window Cling Kit. As tempting as it may seem to use the 8 paint tubs to draw on the little pieces of plastic that they give you and let your doodles dry then stick them on your window, don’t fall into the trap! After about 3 weeks, your wonderful creation will look like it’s melting down the window with the streaks of color smeared on the window and it won’t come off the window. Of course, I had to find this out the hard way. I could not get my hearts and flowers off the window for anything. Finally, I took some vinegar water (my mom’s secret to streak free windows) and just scrubbed until they were moist enough to chip at with an exacto knife. It took forever to get the stupid things off the window! So, I bought window markers instead! Now they will just fade in the sunlight instead of adhering themselves to the window! Plus, I can write reminders to myself, such as a photography test tomorrow, on my mirror so I won’t forget anything! Genius! Okay, not really but I’d like to think so.
Thoughts of next year are floating around in my head already. I hope those of you in high school reading this get something out of it, so... Food for thought: High school is different than college!!! Why? I’ll tell you…
1. In high school your teacher gives you quizzes over lessons of a chapter. College professors give you quizzes over whole chapters.
2. In high school you teacher gives you tests over one chapter at a time (or two at the most). In college, professors give you tests over 3-4 chapters at a time over very different material.
3. In high school, teachers teach; they tell you exactly what you are doing and for what reason you are doing it. In college, professors guide you. They give you an assignment and don’t tell you why you are doing it, you are expected to learn that yourself.
4. In high school, you have to attend class regularly. In college, you don’t. But beware; you will severely pay for not going to class.
5. In high school, the only alarm clock you hear in the morning is yours. In college, (if you live in the dorms) you hear every single annoying Beep Beep Beep alarm clock that goes off, and some of them don’t go off for hours.
So with all that said, God Bless!
