Nikki Eggleston: Journal Entry 10/1/2004

Hey everyone!!  Well, I now have a month of school under my belt.  It definitely has been busy lately.  This past weekend (September 24th -26th) was Family Weekend.  My family came down to spend time with me, and to watch me perform at the football game.  Like I said before I am a Sundancer, which is the dance team here at SEMO.  I absolutely love it!!  The girls are great and so is the dancing!

A little more about me, as you can see that is a picture of my family and excluding my mom (who isn't in the picture) and my older brother Chris who wasn’t able to attend because he had to work.  My parents, Mike and Wendy, have been married for 23 years.  My little sister Missy is 17 and attends Fort Zumwalt South.  Family weekend was wonderful.  It was nice to be able to see my family and spend time with them.  However, we didn’t attend any of the Family Weekend events, like the seminars they have available.  We just hung around town.  This was a wonderful opportunity to go to Wal-Mart and have my parents buy some things for me that I was a little low on and a few extras.  This was definitely an opportune time to hit them up for some cash.  When college comes, you will quickly see how poor you become. Especially hit them up for laundry money.  It cost $.75 to wash a load and $.60 to dry!  So, if you let your laundry build up like the typical college student, then you will need some extra cash from mom and dad!

My classes are going pretty smoothly for the most part.  I must admit the hardest part about college is adjusting to the different professors and their styles of teaching and tests.  Also, I don’t think I’ve ever had to write this many papers at once, but it isn’t too bad; none of them have been over 5 pages so far.  Oh and I have already changed my minor.  It is no longer Business Administration.  It is now Finance.  Hopefully it won’t change, but from what I hear switching majors and minors is very common the first couple of years, so does not knowing what you want to major in.

Well, it is Friday and it will be a fun night.  Tonight I am going to a fraternity’s social, but it won’t be too late of a night I have to get up early and perform at the Show-Me Day tomorrow morning.  I’ll have to inform you of the social events on a later e-mail.

Bye for now, be safe, keep studying, colleges DO see your last semester at high school!
