Nikki Eggleston: Journal Entry 1/31/2005

Well, Happy New Year to all!!  It was a wonderful break!  Sorry I haven’t been able to write a journal entry sooner, but this semester is going to be a little busier.  I have had constant homework on the weekdays and basketball games on the weekends.

Winter Break was absolutely amazing.  I was able to see my friends back home and spend time with them.  I was able to see friends whom I haven’t seen since I been at school and friends I hadn’t seen in weeks.  The best thing is, now I have friends from back home and friends from Southeast.  A 30-45 minute drive to see a friend or boyfriend doesn’t seem so bad now.  Being around my family was wonderful too.  I am able to see my parents and my sister quite a bit when I’m down here because they come to the basketball games to watch me dance, but I don’t have much time to really talk to them.  So I was able to catch up and tell them how my first semester of college went.

Speaking of my first semester, it was pretty good.  My finals went very well and my final grades were good, four A’s and one B.  Not bad for the first semester adjusting to everything.  I hope this semester is just as good, if not better.  This semester is going to be tough.  Now teachers know that you should have the swing of things and they are stricter.  That’s good though, a challenge never hurts.

The basketball games have been pretty exciting.  On the 22nd of January, Southeast unveiled the new Mascot, Rowdy the Redhawk.  It was a big deal and a HUGE crowd.  It was exciting and I was excited to be a part of history here at Southeast.

A little catch-up news here, I finally have a weekend with no games, and it is my birthday.  So I’m going to celebrate and take it easy.  I turned in an application to hopefully become a Student Ambassador here.  My interview is Thursday the 3rd.  Hopefully all goes well.

Well, until later, have fun! This is a picture of my dog, Pepper.
