Dana-Leigh Formon: Journal Entry 11/28/2006 So how was everyone’s Thanksgiving?…Short… Well, I hope everyone’s Thanksgiving went peachy. Mine was pretty good! I actually got to go home for the first time since August! It was really great to see all of my family and my dog, house, and room again. Dance Concert finished without a hitch. I hope everyone who went to see it had fun – I know I had fun performing it! Everyone who was in the concert can now relax and enjoy the rest of the semester…or so we thought! Everyone in the Dance Ensemble still has rehearsal because we are performing at SIU Carbondale this weekend in their dance concert as guest artists. I’m pretty stoked. I’ve never been a “guest artist” before! We’ve had rehearsals all week and those have clashed with all student-called-rehearsals because the informal showing of student choreography pieces is on Wednesday afternoon! I originally had a piece to show, but due to everyone’s hectic schedules there has been no time for everyone in my piece to rehearse together, so I decided to drop the piece. That’s ok with me though, because I’d rather go and watch than to go and worry the entire time about how my piece will look and not really get to enjoy the pieces that go before me. I hope everyone is finding all of their pre-final papers to be going well, I know I’m finishing up a Chem Lab that’s due on Friday. I don’t really like typing up formal lab reports because mine always end up being so long! The lab we’re reporting on is comparing antacid tablets – and mine is already 15 pages long! AHHH! I’m really enjoying my English class though, we’re doing a lot of evaluating papers and exercises that I’m really enjoying – like on Monday, we got to “evaluate” chocolate chip cookies, needless to say that class was sweet (pun intended)! I have a paper due tomorrow for my Honors UI 100 class too, it’s a paper where we needed to discuss an issue in Rock and Roll, take a side of the issue, and back it up with quantitative proof…oy! I’m just glad I got it out of the way! Pre-Med club has been going good – we got our T-Shirts already and they’re AMAZING! The front has that snake and staff medical symbol, and it says “SEMO Pre-Med”. The best part is the back, that’s plain except for the words “Wanna play doctor?” It’s my new favorite shirt! Speaking of shirts, the SEMO Dance XPressions got their shirts in too – I don’t know which is my favorite…I’m still leaning towards the Pre-Med one…Hm… 42nd Street auditions are next week already! And I’m freaking out! I’m only auditioning for a dance role because I’ve never acted or sang before, and since it’s such a big production, they need just plain dancers anyway. I hope I do well, the person who runs the audition said that we’d just do a few scales with the lady in charge of the vocals, but I’ve never done scales before…AH! Keep your fingers crossed for me!
