Jessica Lenoir: Journal Entry 10/1/2004

Wow! I never realized that college life could be hectic. The newest and most important concept I have just learned to grasp is to create a schedule for myself. That is the only way that things get done, and sometimes everything doesn’t. Bad habit number one that I had to overcome is my laziness. Since I arrived here at SEMO I began those first few weeks with a daily nap. That is until my classes picked up and I began working. I am a student worker in the Office of Admissions on campus. Now I get out of class and have an hour for lunch (when I actually take a nap). Then it’s off to work. My close friends and I eat dinner everyday in the University Center. After dinner I spend the rest of the afternoon and night doing homework with the exception of the hour I spend at the gym.

My life isn’t as boring as it seems. There are many fun hours and events in between. There is always something going on in the Residence Halls. I live in Dearmont, which is normally everyone’s last hall pick because it doesn’t have air conditioning but I’ve learned to love it there. Plus it’s getting colder outside. There is hardly ever a dull moment. There’s always someone in my room besides me and my roommate. Everyone’s doors stay open making it convenient to stop by and visit anyone at you own discretion.

I was a bit nervous as this week progressed because this is when six-week grades came out. I felt comfortable with all of my courses and grades except one. I found out the other day that I did even better than I thought. As this week comes to and end, I’ve got a busy but fun filled weekend planned. There are a lot of on-campus events planned this weekend. I also have a lot of homework too. With my new prioritizing skills, I’m sure that everything will get done on time. See ya next week.
