Megan Rapier: Journal Entry 10/25/2006

I'm finally recovered from Homecoming weekend. It was so fun and probably the best weekend I've had since I've been down here. All night Friday, we pomped our float and it paid off. We won first in float, window, and jail and bail. On Saturday, I got to ride on a trailer with the other Sigma new members and helped lead the cheers. We tailgated, went to the game, and then I went to the Sigma Nu formal. I had a blast.

This weekend my sorority will attend Phi Delta Blue Ball. Blue Ball is a philanthropy which is held to raise money for a charity. We will compete against other sororities in a kick ball tournament.

It's been hard being away from home. This will be the longest time I've been away. I went home fall break and won't be home again until Thanksgiving break. My family is going to drive down here to see me so that it won't be so bad.

I think the best thing about being away from home is receiving packages. Normally, my family tells me before they send them but today I got a surprise package. It was from my grandparents. They sent me six caramel apples from a local candy store at home. It was so nice. It was comforting too because I can't get these kind of caramel apples anywhere but Springfield and it made me feel like I was still at home for Halloween.
