Greg Schloss: Journal Entry 12/2/2004

Geeze! Thanksgiving break flew by! It was really good to see my family and all my friends I graduated with from Lindbergh. Also it was good to take a break away from school and all the stresses involved. It was fun hearing all the stories my friends shared from college. We just hung out and tried to stay out of trouble, which was hard for me and my friends. Thanksgiving Day was a blast. Thanksgiving is my second favorite holiday because it’s the one day that its ok to just watch football, stuff your face, and be lazy. All these factors equal into an awesome day with your family. We had thanksgiving at my Grandmother’s house. Most of my family was there including aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins. It had been 3 or 4 months since I have seen all of them together like this so it was good to see everyone.

School only gets tougher. I am in the library right now, taking a break from all the reports I have been doing. I have been working from 11:00 A.M. to right now, which is 8:01 P.M., on reports and a speech. I ate lunch and dinner and those were my only breaks! I have been going crazy today getting as much done as possible. I already have written a six page UI100 report, a four page EN100 report, and finished revising an eight minute speech on genetically altered foods for my SC105 class. I need to start really studying for finals because some of the finals I will be having are 4-5 pages long.

It’s hard to balance a good social life and keep your grades up. I have sacrificed a few Saturday nights because of school. Fridays are a must go out and see your friends. You have to release that steam built up from the previous week and just have a good night. My grades are looking good though. I have to keep a 3.5 and be taking 15 credit hours for my Renaissance Scholarship. I am at a 3.25 right now because I have 3 B’s and 1 A. Now you may be asking yourselves… Hea, isn’t four classes mean 12 credit hours? Well the answer is that my math does not count for my GPA, and thank goodness it doesn’t! Now I won’t lie, I am a good student, but I HATE math. I have never been good in it and I doubt I will ever be very good at it. If you must know I am barely pulling a C in math, which is good enough to get to the next level math class.

Life and everything involved in it is good. My family could not be happier with how im doing in school. School is good. Fraternity life is awesome. Student Government is tiring but rewarding. Everything is good. Sigma Chi 4 life.
