Greg Schloss: Journal Entry 2/9/2005

Well, we are finally the Redhawks! It was a cool ceremony they had to introduce the new mascot. They had a lot of free food and stuff to win before the game which was nice. We had around 25 Sigma Chi’s from University of Rolla, Missouri who came to visit that weekend. They said they had a blast at the events for the new mascot and the basketball game. They told us that Rolla had never had anything on campus that was as fun as what we had that weekend. I told them if they think that weekend was fun, they should come down for Homecoming.

Christmas break was a lot of fun. I wish it would have snowed in Saint Louis. The only time I like the weather being cold is when it is either snowing or there is snow on the ground. Even though there was no snow, I had fun with all my friends in town from college. New Years was a crazy night. I had people over at my house for a while and then went to a friends party. It was good to spend the holidays with my family. It got tiring when every member of my family asked how school was going.

I had to go back to school one week early from break for Initiation week for Sigma Chi. It was a fun week learning about myself and the Fraternity. It was a long week, but I got there. It felt awesome at the end of the week to look back on my pledgeship and think how far I have gone to get to this point. It feels really great to finally be an active member. All the pressure is off now and I can sit back and focus on the other parts of my hectic life.

School is going great! Classes are not too hard. I tried out for the Student Ambassadors and got accepted. A Student Ambassador takes students on tours of the campus. Being a Student Ambassador will be a great thing on my resume. Everything else is going great!
