Christina Vitale: Journal Entry 11/16/2007 These past weeks have been extremely busy! Last week, the Fall Dance Concert was Thursday-Saturday, but I was preparing for it almost every night of the week. On Tuesday night, we laid out the marlee, the special floor for the dancers, in the brand new Bedell Theatre. On Wednesday we had a technical rehearsal followed by a dress rehearsal, and on Thursday before the performance we had a second dress rehearsal. It was really cool because the news came and broadcasted live footage of the dancers’ pre-performance. I am not a dancer; I was working on lighting crew, but after seeing the concert so many times, I know I’m going to have to take a few dance classes before I graduate. Everyone did such a wonderful job and I was just amazed. This week has been full of meetings and rehearsals for some scenes I’m doing for acting class. There’s so much going on with the University Players this week! The University Players is a club/group for everyone in the Theatre and Dance Department. It’s all about raising money to help students pay for going to auditions and conferences throughout the year. We do all sorts of fundraisers throughout the year. I already helped with a car wash at the beginning of the year, and there have been tons of little fundraisers this semester. We are preparing for a big fundraiser right now, our First Annual Christmas Cabaret at the Cup and Cork. University Players will be providing entertainment, serving, hosting, cleaning dishes, everything! Tickets are $30. Guests will receive $15 worth of appetizers, dessert, and wine and the other $15 is for about two hours of entertainment presented in cabaret style by the University Players. Unfortunately, it’s on December 14th, the last day of finals and my older sister’s graduation from MIZZOU. I won’t be able to be there for the actual event, but I plan on helping in any way I can, of course, staying as busy as possible! |
