Christina Vitale: Journal Entry 1/18/2008

Break was wonderful.  As it’s named, it was a break from lots of things.  Stressing over classes, papers, tests, and people, unfortunately.  I missed a lot of the new friends I had made last semester.  My mind played tricks on me; I kept thinking I saw people from SEMO, when, of course, most were about a hundred miles away.  I really enjoyed seeing my family, and I turned nineteen, which were all highlights.  For my birthday, I went and saw Wicked the Musical at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis.

It’s been a nice start to the semester so far.  I was thrust into activities and classes and everything is hectic beyond belief already.  I will be the speaker at the Speaker Showcase next week.  I will be presenting one of my speeches on the importance of voting from my last semester’s SC105 class to this semester's SC105 classes.

I am also assistant stage managing Dance-apalooza this semester.  For those of you that don’t know, stage managers are the people that keep everything organized and pretty much run the show behind the scenes.  Assistant stage managers help the stage manager. So I will be going to lots of dance rehearsals these next few months, but not to dance!

I’m also currently debating as to whether or not I can/will try to join a sorority this semester.  I’d really like to, but being a theatre major is so demanding time-wise, plus I’m taking a pretty full course load this semester, so  I don’t know if I’d have enough time to really devote to a sorority. (There are no other theatre majors in sororities right now!)  I guess I’ll see how things work out.
