Well, it's been another interesting couple of weeks up here in Central New York. Attendance at the museum has been steadily increasing, and soon will skyrocket as Induction Weekend quickly approches. Sales at the Membership Desk have also increased, but much of my attention lately has been focused on other projects at work.
I headed up our editing project on the renewal letters we send out to existing members, or those who have recently let their memberships lapsed. The editing process was long, because we nine different letters to look at, along with six different opinions on what should be changed, but I enjoyed the process.
I also gave an Artifact spotlight not too long ago, where I gave a ten minute presentation on two artifacts that are not normally on display to the public in the museum. I talked about George Brett's Kansas City Royals Cap that he wore in the 1985 All-Star Game, and a traveling case decorated with stickers from around the globe. The case held a ball that was used for the first pitch in 18 cities throughout the world and finally endend as the first pitch in the 2001 All Star game, at Safco Field in Seattle.
In addition to those projects I've really been enjoying a career seminar series, that the internship has put together this year. This week all of us interns got dressed in our best attire (I was in a suit) and meet the Chairman of the Hall of Fame, Jane Forbes Clark, at the town's nicest resort hotel, the Otesega. Ms. Clark gave us a lesson in professional dinner etiquitte, and answered any questions we had. After the session, we had an excellent meal where we put into practice the knowledge we had just been educated with. It was quite an experience, and one that will hopefully prove useful in the future.
The internship is close to 3/4 of the way through, and I'm trying to savor all my time left here. It has been quite an experience so far, and I'm sure induction weekend will blow everything else away. I'll be busy the next couple of weeks, but I'll try to fill in the gaps here whenever I get the chance.
We'll I'm going to get back to my homework now, so I can go out and celebrate my birthday, which is tomorrow, but I have to work, so tonight is the celebration.
Take care and I'll try to write whenever I can.
