Danny Halley: Journal Entry 7/23/2006 I arrived in Foxboro, Massachusetts on Friday, July 14. I was told that there was nothing for me to do with the team until the following Monday, and I was free to do whatever I liked until then. I thought, "oh great! I am in a city I've never been in, with no car, and in a hotel that is within walking distance of exactly nothing. This'll be a great start to my internship." Luckily, I have a friend who lives in Cape Cod, which is only about an hour away. She came, picked me up, and I spent the weekend out on the Cape. The Cape is beautiful and I highly recommend going. There is a magnificient little coffee place called "Coffee Obsessions" that is a block away from the Martha's Vineyard ferry station. It was perfect for some morning joe and reading the sports page. Once I was back in Foxboro on Sunday, I was instantly bored again and longing for anything to take my mind off of my boredom, so I napped. So, I've been here for nine days and nothing has happened. The rookies reported to camp last Tuesday and have had morning workouts every day since then. They are pretty easy to take care of since none of them are hurt, yet. All they ask for is water or Gatorade. There are a few more players reporting to camp today (Sunday, July 23) and the rest of the veterans are reporting on Thursday. Most of my time so far has consisted of getting everything ready for training camp to start on Friday. I've done a lot of carrying, lifting, replacing, fixing, moving, refilling, pushing, pulling, cleaing, etc. Eventually, I hope to do some real athletic training stuff. Hopefully my next entry will be more fun to read. Congradulations to John Parsons and Todd Stanley for making it into the Bass Anglers National Championships. Thanks for reading about my boring life, God bless, Danny Halley. |
