Tenecia Bryant: Journal Entry 1/10/2006 Today was pretty much the official last day of the trip because we leave early in the morning to go back home. Since we didn't see everything yesterday, we met at 9:00am to catch what we missed. We were originally scheduled to have a free day in Rome, but plans changed. Today we visited the Spanish Steps, walked through the Forum and Colosseum, walked to the top of the Victor Emmanuel monument and saw more churches. I was astonished by all the historic sites that I got to see. We were done sightseeing around 1:00pm and had the rest of the afternoon free. The first thing we did was had lunch at the Argentine restaurant we visited the first night in Rome. Again, the food was great. I had mashed potatoes over a bed of ground beef. The dish was just like my mother's shepherds pie. After lunch we took the subway to the Vatican to do some more shopping. I picked up a couple of t-shirts for my parents and myself and an extra bag to pack all the stuff I bought. We also stopped at a shoe store and I bought a really nice pair of black leather boots. (It's cool because whenever someone asks me where I bought them, I can say "I got them in Rome.") After that I was done shopping. For dinner, we ate at the La Gallina Bianca where I had lasagna. Following dinner, we went back to the Irish pub that we'd been too every night we were in Rome. After sharing some drinks and some laughs, we walked back to the hotel for the last time. I was ready to go home but I really enjoyed myself. It was the experience of a lifetime and I would love to go back again someday.
