Southeast Missouri State University

First-Year Leadership Program

Lead Self

FyLP (pronounced flip) is a series of workshops offered in the fall semester open to all first-year students. Participants will explore their personal leadership style and learn to capitalize on their innate leadership strengths. Participants complete the StrengthsQuestTM leadership assessment, attend four two hour leadership sessions and experience the on-campus low ropes course.  Emphasis will be placed on community building.

Participants will customize their experience by choosing from two tracks: Programmed and Partnered.

In the “Programmed Track,” participants complete the StrengthsQuest leadership assessment, attend six 1.5 hour leadership sessions and experience the on-campus low ropes course.

In the “Partnered Track,” participants go one step further by completing all aspects of the Programmed Track, but will also be paired with a student mentor to help guide your leadership development during your time at Southeast. Benefits to this track include the chance to network with established, upper-class student leaders, gain insight into navigating involvement opportunities, and other special perks.
