Endowed and Sponsored Scholarships for First Year Students College of Liberal Arts EA003. ALEXANDER COUNTY/EDNA WALKER. Open to students from Alexander County, Illinois. Open to Historic Preservation majors with a "B" average who are dedicated to their field. First preference will be given to juniors, and second preference will be given to seniors. This award is for study in a French-speaking country for the summer after the sophomore year, either semester of the junior year, or for the summer after the junior year and is for up to full incidental and general fees only. Applicants must have 45 credit hours completed and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours. The applicant must have declared a French major or Education major with a French minor and declared an intent to graduate from Southeast Missouri State University. Financial need may be a consideration. Students not currently having other scholarships and students from other countries, states, or provinces where French is not the predominant language will be given preference. Deadline is March 1. Open to undergraduate, non-traditional students over the age of 20 who have maintained an overall GPA of 2.75 and achieved a 3.0 GPA for the semester prior to submitting the application. Preference will be given to self supporting students with at least one dependent, financial need, and academic merit, majoring in History, English, or any other area of Communication. Awarded to a student with a declared Music Education major, that has either been admitted to the Teacher Education program or is in his/her 2nd semester of the sophomore year. Deadline is March 1. Open to students in Mass Communication with an emphasis in print journalism who live in one of these counties: Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Crawford, Dunklin, Iron, Jefferson, Madison, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Perry, Reynolds, Ripley, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, Scott, Stoddard, Washington, or Wayne. Selection is based on GPA and related activities. This scholarship requires a separate application available in Student Financial Services. Open to a student with a minimum 3.0 GPA in all university courses taken, who has a demonstrated interest in, and is involved in studying the history of Southeast Missouri; who is either an undergraduate student entering his/her Junior or Senior year with a minimum of twelve (12) hours of history credit at Southeast, or a graduate student pursuing a Master of Arts degree in historical research. The selected candidate will be required to submit historical research on an assigned topic in the history of Southeast Missouri selected by the Director of the Center for Regional History and agreed to by the Director and the recipient. First preference is for scholarship award to a graduate of Neelyville High School majoring in English or Spanish with second preference for a graduate of Neelyville High School.
