The Department of Management and Marketing offers majors in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree program, designed to prepare students for career positions in management, human resource management, marketing, sales, marketing communications and international business. We also offer a variety of undergraduate minors and participate in these graduate programs: Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Science in Organizational Management. The department is housed in the Harrison College of Business, in the state-of-the-art Dempster Hall of Business.
The Harrison College of Business is one of only a few business schools in the world to receive accreditation from both the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Network of International Business Schools (NIBS). The recognition of an AACSB-accredited business program is held by only 5% of institutions offering business degrees worldwide. Accreditation by NIBS recognizes us for "deep" internationalization of all facets of our business program.
Students majoring in Management concentrate in one of three options: Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship and Management. We were recently certified by the Society for Human Resource Management as meeting their professional standards and having a comprehensive Human Resource Management curriculum. We offer one of the most comprehensive approaches to entrepreneurship education in the Midwest. Our institution's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship inspires students and business start-up clients to embrace innovation and turn their business dreams into reality.
Students choosing to major in Marketing concentrate in one of three options: Marketing Management, Sales Management or Integrated Marketing Communications. Marketing majors benefit from client-based projects in several courses and opportunities to apply their creative and analytic skills.
The Business Administration major is a general business major designed by the student. Since the major can be attained completely online, it offers flexibility and convenience. It is taught by full-time doctoral faculty, and is an excellent way to build on an Associate of Arts degree from a community college.
We provide our majors with a unique competitive advantage and marketability upon graduation, and classes include practical, real-world learning opportunities that embody actual activities a business manager would experience.
Our student organizations provide leadership and service opportunities.
Our experienced faculty engage in scholarly research and value working with students on research projects and community service projects related to their profession. The faculty is highly involved in providing service to the professional community at the local, regional, national and at times, international levels. Our office staff prides itself on providing personal attention to students who come by, call or email. We share a common goal of striving to help students "experience success" while they are attending our university. Please contact the chairperson, faculty or staff if you have any questions.
