Band Camp, Day 1
Brooke Privett
Howdy!
After a Jazz rehearsal this morning, the full marching band began to arrive. What an exciting band we have! Everyone is fabulous! I have 13 trumpets in my section, which for a band of 100, is pretty phenomenal. Mr. Bernhardt (he's our director) has made me the Section Leader for this trip. Finally, after 6 years, I get to be section leader! I think they all like me okay. ;)
Okay, so I've said that I didn't like the music at all, but I have changed my mind after hearing it with the full band, it's pretty nifty! I do have a small solo at the end of "America the Beautiful" where I chime in with the opening of the Star Spangled Banner. The big trumpet solo got cut along with the sax solo due to timing issues or something like that.
So, I went to the midnight premier of the new Batman movie tonight, but had to leave after 30 minutes b/c I believe my blood suger got to low and I was shaking and felt bad. I feel better now. Don't be alarmed though, it has happened before, I have a type of pill that I take, and I know I'm not supposed to take it when I might be the least bit dehydrated, but forgot, and took it before I left for the movie. Man, I wanted to see it so bad, not to mention I just wasted 6 bucks!
So tomorrow, I believe we'll have most of the show rolling, we've already got one song memorized! Oh, the picture is me during our outdoor rehearsal that Dr. Conger took. He was trying to be dramatic!
