We're Here!

Greetings from Sunny, 70 degree, beautiful London, England!
Yes, the band is finally in England and we all have jet lag like no other! We left Cape Girardeau at 7:00am Monday morning on a 7 HOUR BUSRIDE (notice the caps) to Chicago, only to hop on a 7 1/2 hour direct flight to London. I didn't sleep on the bus on purpose, because I wanted to be very tired for the plane ride. Well, I didn't sleep any on the flight thanks to bright lights, the fact that there were 9 seats to a row (cramped!), screaming kids, moving bodies and no air. (Yes, I am my father's daughter!) We landed in London at 6:50am, walked right through customs, I called mom and dad (Collect of course!) and hopped on a tour bus.
We spent the entire morning touring London, and man was it neat. We are used to saying that somthing in the U.S. is old when it is built in the early 1900's. That is not the case here...we heard years such as 749a.d., 1600, etc. I couldn't help but think "Man! That is ooolllldddd!!! And I'm looking at it!" I just kept saying "This is so weird to see these buildings in person that I've always seen in the movies!" The greatest thing here are the locals. They are ridiculously friendly and keep telling us what a huge deal it is that we are playing at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Oh, I love their accents!!! The really funny thing today occurred while a group of us were eating at a pub down the street from our hotel. We walked in and this British man says, "Ah, Americans!" And some people responded "How did you know?" The man, pointing at me, replied "Because I heard her say "Howdy", and only people from Texas say that, and Texas is in America!" So we all got a big kick out of that! I still just can't get over how friendly everyone is, and they love it that we always say "thank you" and "you're welcome" to them.
Tomorrow I've got tickets to the London Eye, the world's largest ferris wheel, and I'm trying to get tickets to see "We Will Rock You: A Musical About Queen (as in the band)" Those of you who know me, know that Queen is my favorite band of all time, so I'm dying to see that show! Talk to you later!
