Last day in London, Already!
Brooke Privett
Good day!
So, today in London was amazing!!! A group of us got up this morning, had a full english breakfast (for FREE) and headed out for our flight on the London Eye (the world's largest Ferris Wheel. Libby Mobley, you would have loved it! haha!) It was awesome and I took a lot of pictures. I will post those on here as soon as possible, I just don't have the time now. We've been traveling by way of the Tube today, which is neat. While I was getting my ticket today, the man says "I'm sorry, I'm scatterbrained right now. It's not everyday a pretty blonde haired, blue-eyed thing walks up to my window!" Haha! I laughed and said "I'm flattered, really." Everybody laughed!
So after the London eye we went to eat at yet another pub, where I had a cheddar and pickle sandwich, b/c it has been the chefs specialty at every pub I have been to. It was tasty! The funny thing was that I asked for a soda, which turned out soda is British for sparkling water! Ugh!! So then I told the lady "I'm sorry, I'm a stupid American, I meant I wanted a coke or something." She said they also had Fanta, so I got that. Well, guess what? Here fanta is sparkling water with some O.J. thrown in! Interesting.
We then headed to the Tate Modern art museum, which is where a majority of Picasso's paintings are kept. After that, the group got separated and Dr. Conger and I were left together, so we hung out the rest of the day. We got some gellato, went to Harrod's (Expensive, but neat to look around), strolled through an instrument museum where we ran into some French kids and ended up talking to for like an hour (I had to assure them that not all Americans loved war!), and then we got tickets to an awesome 3 hour long concert starring the BBC Orchestra. It was amazing! I've never heard anything like them, and my ticket only cost $12.00! They played the Mendelssohn overture "Ruy Blas", Mendelsson's Symphony #4 (AMAZING!), Brahm's Piano Concerto #2 (which was an hour long, and the Pianist (who was the best) had it all memorized), and the Brahm's Symphony #2 starring the brass section (of course it was my favorite!) Well, it's nighty night for me. We are heading to York tomorrow morning at 7:15. Oh, Pictures to come from today's visits.
Cheers,
Brooke
