The Ronald E. McNair Scholars program is made possible though a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. This grant supports undergraduate students' scholarly activities throughout the academic year and summer. Through this support, McNair Scholars Program at Southeast Missouri State University is playing a very important role by involving faculty to mentor and encourage talented scholars to pursue graduate studies.

Exposure to scholarly research experience and graduate work and working with seasoned faculty mentors are vital for students preparing for graduate school. Low-income, first generation college students or students traditionally underrepresented in graduate education are eligible to submit an application to this program. The McNair Program prepares undergraduate juniors and seniors aspiring to study at the graduate level.
