• The McNair Program provides services throughout the year (summer included) to prepare participants for graduate study and assisting students to gain admission to quality graduate programs of their choice.

• Workshops and Seminars to provide information on topics such as selecting a graduate school, the graduate school application process, preparing a personal statement, graduate assistantships, research skills, presentation skills, technical writing skills, strengthening academic skills.

• Preparation sessions for Graduate Record Examination (GRE).

• Faculty Mentors, to help students formulate their research projects and develop their research skills.

• Individual Assistance to help students with their undergraduate academic and financial needs and to help ensure admission to graduate programs of their choice.

• Summer research internship for participants: Benefits include working with a faculty mentor, stipend, and assistance with room & board expenses.

• Application Fee Waivers: over 150 institutions nationwide offer admission application fee waivers for McNair scholars. There are also GRE fee waivers for 10 students.

• National Support: Support for McNair scholars extends beyond their own individual campuses.  Institutions across the country offer incentives for McNair scholars to enroll in their graduate programs. Incentives range from waivers for application to scholarships and tuition credits.

• A summer research internship during each summer. Benefits include working with a faculty mentor, a stipend for 10 weeks of summer research and possible financial assistance toward room and board during research.

• Paid travel to present research at national conferences.
