Collections

The Crisp Museum collects in three thematic areas: archaeology, history, and fine art. The museum provides changing exhibitions, didactic displays, and educational programs for the university community and general public. Collections are also available to scholars and students conducting academic research.

Please visit our exhibition page for details on upcoming exhibitions.

Archaeology: The museum has several collections of prehistoric Native American artifacts. These collections illustrate aspects of the daily and ceremonial lives of the indigenous peoples who lived in southeastern Missouri from 13,500 B.C. to 1400 A.D.

History: The museum's historical collections cover a wide range of artifacts with strengths in the areas of militaria, firearms and their accessories, clothing, and hand tools. Changing thematic displays illustrate different aspects of the past.

Fine Art: The museum has an eclectic fine arts collection. Among the highlights are the Schriever collection; and the Tamara Kerr Art Bank/New York Artists Equity Association, Inc. collection.

The museum's collection pieces in archaeology, history, and fine art will be viewable online in the future.
