"Zeuxis: Reflections," an exhibition of still life paintings, will be displayed beginning May 1 in the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp Museum at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.

The public is invited to attend an opening reception from 4-8 p.m. on May 4. The artists, Temma Bell, Ruth Miller and Megan Williamson, who have pieces in the Zeuxis exhibition, will speak at 6 p.m. The exhibit will remain on display through June 30. Admission is free.

For their latest exhibition titled Reflections, Zeuxis artists and their guests have produced still life paintings incorporating a reflecting object. The nature of reflection - its surface (likely a mirror, though possibly glass or silverware) and the image reflected (still life objects, a window, or even a self portrait) - was determined by each individual artist.

Reflections 2012, a 36 page color catalog, with Essay by William Corbett is available for purchase.

Zeuxis is a grassroots organization of painters formed in 1995 to explore the contemporary possibilities of still life. Guest artists include Lois Dodd, Albert Kresch, Marion Lerner-Levine, George Nick, and Susan Jane Walp.

Financial assistance for this project has been provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.

The Crisp Museum is located in the Cultural Arts Center at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus, 518 S. Fountain St., Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Museum hours: Tues.-Fri.: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekends: 1-4 p.m. For more information, email museum@semo.edu or call (573) 651-2260.
