Visionary Women Artists
August 2-October 27, 2013
"Visionary Women Artists: Selections from the Wells Fargo Art Collection," will be displayed in the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.
The public is invited to attend the opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m. on August 2. The exhibit will remain on display through October 27. Admission is free.
The 47 prints and photographs cover a broad spectrum, ranging from abstract expressionist pieces to more contemporary work by women artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Some of the artists featured are Bernice Abbott, Jennifer Bartlett, Louise Bourgeois, Imogen Cunningham, Sonia Delauney-Terk, Helen Frankenthaler, Lee Krasner, Dorothea Lange, Judy Pfaff, Kiki Smith, and Pat Steir.
Many of these artists are the best-known and most important female artists of the 20th century. They are considered to have been revolutionary because of their efforts to portray women equally in the art world.
