The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum and Department of Art at Southeast Missouri State University hosts the 32nd Annual High School Art Exhibition: "Exhibiting Excellence," from January 31 to March 7, 2010. The juried exhibition showcases art works created by junior and senior high school students in southeast Missouri and southern Illinois.
 
A reception and awards ceremony was held January 31. Tess Colon received the Best of Show award and a $1,500 scholarship to Southeast Missouri State Universtiy for her ceramic piece depicting a camera with a squid coming out of the lens. Please see the List of Award Winners for first, second and third place in the categories of drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, fibers and photography.

The public is invited to view "Exhibiting Excellence" through March 7. 

The exhibition juror, Dr. Karen Cummings, is the Coordinator of Art Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where she holds a joint appointment in the Department of Art and Art History and the Division of Teaching and Learning. Juror's Statement

Cummins received her Ph.D. in Art Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her most recent publication, A Journey of Change in Visual Culture in the Art Class: Case Studies, introduces readers to the invaluable opportunities that are awarded to adolescents as they engage in critical inquiry of contemporary visual culture imagery.
