The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum presents Ansel Adams: Masterworks, from March 26 to June 27, 2010.

The public is invited to attend a reception on Wednesday, March 31, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. 

This exhibition includes 48 photographs that Ansel Adams himself selected as representative of his best work. Called The Museum Set, it reveals the importance Adams placed on the drama and splendor of natural environments that might not, to the ordinary passing hiker, have revealed their secrets.

Ansel Adams is one of the few American artists to have become a household name and is the only photographer to have achieved such an extraordinary level of popular recognition, perhaps in the world. There are dozens of reasons for the popularity of Adams's photographs, but chief among them is that his work bolsters the human being's deeply held conviction-whether consciously recognized or not-that place matters.

Organized by the Turtle Bay Exploration Park, Redding, CA. Exhibition tour management by Landau Traveling Exhibitions, Los Angeles, CA. The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum is the sponsor of this exhibition. Financial assistance for this exhibition has been provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.

ART SLAM!, a lively debate/performance centered on this exhibition is scheduled for Thursday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m. between Dr. Chris Rieger (Department of English) and Dr. Zenon Duda (podiatry). Audience members are encouraged to participate in the debate.
