Museum Internship Information

"Set your sights high. Explore the possibilities. Opportunities abound."

Museum internships can be arranged through the Department of Art or Historic Preservation Program. Hours of credit are determined by each department.

Interns determine a focus related to the museum, such as curatorial, preservation, education, exhibitions, exhibit research, etc. The internship coordinator and museum staff ensure that internships are a valuable experience for the student. (flier)

Requirements include keeping a timesheet, a daily journal of activities and giving an oral presentation or writing a paper describing the internship experience. Some departments require a résumé to be written.

Special projects can be arranged if agreed upon by the student and the internship coordinator.

If you would like to contact or speak with someone in the museum to find out more, contact Jim Phillips, Curator of Collections (jmphillips@semo.edu) or Ellen Hahs, Curator of Education (ehahs@semo.edu). The Art Department contact is Pat Reagan preagan@semo.edu or (573) 651-2301. The Historic Preservation contact is Dr. Steven Hoffman shoffman@semo.edu or (573) 651-2381.
