Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum Seeking Volunteer Docents

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 21, 2008 -- The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Southeast Missouri Regional Museum at Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus is offering free training for volunteer docents this spring.

"Docents will donate their time and skills in conducting tours of the Museum's galleries for audiences of all levels," said Ellen Hahs, curator of education with the Museum.

Three training sessions, each lasting four hours, will involve an overview of the museum, the museum's collections, exhibit details for both the museum's permanent regional history exhibit and temporary art exhibits, interactive kiosks, and tour group management. Monthly volunteer meetings are held to plan, discuss, refresh and learn new information concerning the Museum, she said.

Training Sessions will be offered in daytime and evening sessions to accommodate busy schedules. Session times are as follows:

Session 1:
Friday, April 25, 5-8:30 p.m. or Monday, April 28, 1-4:30 p.m.

Session 2:
