Tuesdays at the Museum Workshops

Spring 2013 Tuesdays at the Museum 

Adult Classes

February - Accessories and Jewelry
     These classes last 2 hours and begin at 9 a.m. for ages 16 and up. Preregistration
     required due to limited seating.
     Feb. 5 and 12 Tshirt Necklaces (bring your own Tshirt, call for details)
     Feb. 19 and 26 Wire and Bead Jewelry Techniques
     Contact the museum for a supply list.

March 19 - Pysanky
     This one day workshop on Tuesday, March 19, lasts 2 hours and begins at 9 a.m.
     Adults only, preregistration required due to limited seating. Barbara Duncan will teach  
     the process to make a Pysanka. Pysanky (plural) are Ukranian Easter eggs, decorated
     with dye using a wax-resist method. Supplies are provided.

April 16 thru May 7 - Improve Drawing Skills
     This 4 week workshop on Tuesdays 9:30-Noon is designed to improve your ability to
     see as an artist sees, and capture ideas on paper. Preregistration required due to   
     limited seating. This class is open to artists at any stage of practice. Open Window
     Studio artist, Kelly Hughes offers specific excersised to encourage improvement of the
     drawing fundamentals that will assist with creating compositions and capturing ideas for
     further development in the medium in which you specialize. Contact the museum for a
     supply list.     

Youth Classes

Our Tuesday youth classes last 1 hour and are offered at 2, 3 and 4 p.m. for ages 3-15.

Adult Classes 
October 15 and 22 - Pencil Portraits

Pencil Portraits is led by Ellen Hahs, curator of education, 10 a.m. to noon. 
Advance your ability to capture portrait likenesses with a simple line drawing and a detailed shaded drawing. Fine details in facial features will be extensively covered during lectures and practice sessions will involve graphite pencil, chalk and toned paper.
Supplies are provided during class. 

November 5, 12, 19 and 26 - Portrait Oil Painting
Portrait Oil Painting is led by artist Cleda Curtis-Neal 9 a.m. to noon.
Beginning as well as advanced artisis will benefit from lessons in shape and line identification, compositional design, lighting subject and background, mixing fleshtone values and forming facial features. Contact the museum for the supply list.
