Beginners Drawing and Painting for Adults

ART OF SEEING
6:30-9:00 p.m. Tuesdays: January 17, 24 and 31
Instruction by Ellen Hahs, Curator of Education
Seating is limited and registration is required.
Participants will be using museum supplies and do not have to bring anything to class.

This 3 week series is a beginners introduction to realism in drawing and painting. Increase your visual and spatial skills involving proportion, form, and texture. Develop your attention to detail and recognize areas for improvement through class critiques. 

Art is Elementary

FIRST ART 
9:00 a.m. ages 3-6 (open)
10:00 a.m. ages 3-6 (open)
Students are introduced to six elements of art: color, line, form, space, value and texture, by using a wide variety of art supplies with creative and quick projects.  

LOOK INTO MY ART
2:00 p.m. (class is full)

Students will use polymer clay (non-drying), then create drawings and paintings from their constructions.  The concepts of spatial understanding will be explored. Fine art vocabulary will be expanded by discussing form, depth, overlapping, planes, contrast and composition. Various artists works will be shown for inspiration. Students will develop attention to detail and recognize areas for improvement through class critiques of their pieces. 

Independent Drawing/Painting for Adults

6:30-9:00 p.m. Adults (open) 
January 10 and/or February 7
Bring a current piece of work with your supplies and enjoy a short sharing/critique period followed by independent work time. Set your own goals for your 2012 experience with fine art.

WATERCOLOR  Teaching Artist Kelley Hughes leads a 4 week series in watercolor.

PRESERVING OUR PAST THROUGH PERFORMANCE Ann Birney and Joyce Thierer perform various characters and lead a class in historical performance.

FAMILY DAY: CIVIL WAR HEROES AND HORRORS Saturday February 18, 1-4 p.m.
