Dr. Robert Conger, conductor of the Spring Concert Band

Concert Band

Spring Concert Band features many of the finest musicians on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University.  This ensemble uses symphonic band instrumentation and is open to all students regardless of major. Past programs have included the following works: Blessed are They - Johannes Brahms; Courtly Airs and Dances - Ron Nelson; When Summer Was Just Beginning - Larry Daehn and The Dancing Sergeant - Norman Dello Joio.

Programs for the spring semester of 2006 included Hobbits (movement V from Symphony for Band) - Johann De Meij, Third Suite - Robert Jager, Overture for Winds - Charles Carter and Valdres March - Johannes Hanssen.  2007 performances included Chorale and Shaker Dance - John Zdechlick, The Sinfonians - Clifton Williams, Prelude and Fugue in d minor by J.S. Bach, and American Folk Rhapsody #1 by Clare Grundman.

In spring 2008 this ensemble will rehearse and perform on the brand new River Campus.  Both concerts during the semester will be shared with the Southeast Wind Symphony in Bedell Performance Hall.  The band meets from 3:30 until 5:20 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Interested students are invited to join this enjoyable musical experience. No audition is required. This ensemble plays literature for the wind band of moderate difficulty and will present two concerts during the semester.
