Sensational Sounds BH   7:30 p.m. November 6, 2007

The Southeast Missouri Symphony Orchestra opens its concert season with a spectacular program including music by Dvorak, Barber, and Sarasate, featuring the amazing violin artistry of Liesl Schoenberger in concert with the symphony orchestra.  The program will include: Dvorak, Symphony No. 8; Barber, Violin Concerto (first movement) and Sarasate, Carmen Fantasy.

Handel's Messiah BH     7:30 p.m. December 7, 8, 2007

The Southeast Missouri Symphony Orchestra is joined with the University Choir and Choral Union in a festive performance of Handel’s iconic masterpiece, the Messiah.  The program will include: Haydn, Symphony No. 104 and Handel, Messiah.

Carnival of the Animals BH     7:30 p.m. March 4, 2008

French composer Saint-Saens’ masterpiece, the Carnival of the Animals, brings alive the sounds of zoo animals and other creatures in this fun and fabulous composition for two pianists and orchestra.  This concert also presents Poulenc’s thrilling Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra.  The program will include: Saint-Saens, Carnival of the Animals (Tom Harte, narrator); Ravel, Pavane pour une enfante defunte; and Poulenc, Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra (Matt Yount and Tyson Wunderlich, piano soloists).

Southeast Showcase BH     7:30 p.m. April 29, 2008

Featuring the student winners of the Concerto and Aria Competition, as well as the University Choir and Choral Union, this final concert of the season will be a showcase of the stellar instrumental and vocal talents at Southeast Missouri State University.  The program will include: Concerto and Aria soloists; Beethoven, “Halleluia Chorus” from Christ on the Mount of Olives.
