Painting of Southeast's new River Campus

Facilities

The Department of Music has moved to the new Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts, at the newly constructed River Campus, located in the renovated Old St. Vincent’s College seminary building in Cape Girardeau.  This historic landmark houses faculty offices, classrooms as well as the beautiful 205-seat Robert and Gertrude Shuck Recital Hall.  Shuck Hall is located in the old chapel of the seminary and preserves the old stained glass windows which were carefully renovated to maintain their original clarity and color.  Also located in the seminary building are the Arts Resource Center, which houses discipline-specific libraries, as well as a vast collection of audio compact discs intended to enhance student learning.

Next to the seminary building, the River Campus Cultural Arts Center includes a new rehearsal hall and Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall, a 950-seat, state-of-the-art, large performance auditorium with incredible acoustics to complement every performance.  This exciting new theater will be the home to all theater, music and dance productions during the school year and also will include a touring series which will bring a wide array of cultural performances to the Cape Girardeau public.  This breathtaking, innovative 150,000-square-foot facility will distinguish Southeast as the only Missouri university to have a campus devoted to the disciplines of art, dance, music and theatre.
