Stephen Hanrahan Applied French Horn Stephen Hanrahan, adjunct professor of horn, is currently an active free-lance hornist in the St. Louis metropolitan area. He serves as principal horn of the Illinois Symphony as well as an extra with the St. Louis Symphony, having accompanied the SLSO on two tours of Carnegie Hall. He plays regularly with the Municipal Theater Association of St. Louis (the MUNY), the Fox Theater Orchestra, and the Ballet Orchestra of St. Louis. Other experience includes positions with the Savannah Symphony, Alabama Symphony, Memphis Symphony, Charleston Symphony, Hilton Head Symphony, Augusta (GA) Symphony, and the Missouri Symphony Society. Mr. Hanrahan has performed with such artists as Itzak Perlman, Pinchas Zukerman, Andre Watts, Rod Stewart, Chet Atkins, Ray Charles, Crystal Gayle, Doc Severinson, Bernadette Peters, and Frank Sinatra Jr. Mr. Hanrahan also serves as the instructor of horn at St. Louis University and is the former adjunct professor of horn at Millikin University. In addition to his many private students in the St. Louis area, he conducts numerous masterclasses with area schools and is an active drum and bugle corps fan. He received both bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Missouri where his instructors included D. Bruce Heim and Laurence M. Lowe.
