A graduate of the Alabama School of Fine Arts, Mary Mims leaves her adjunct status to fill a one-year Instructor of Music Education appointment. Mrs. Mims earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Music Education from Troy University in Alabama. She pursued post-graduate study in Voice and Music Education at the University of Southern Mississippi and Florida State University. A veteran of both public school and university teaching, she taught vocal music in grades K-9 for the Cape Girardeau public school system and K-8 Vocal and Instrumental Music at Nell Holcomb School in Cape Girardeau.
She holds life-time Missouri public school teaching certification in vocal and instrumental Music. Prior to public school teaching, Mrs. Mims taught at Troy University and was an Instructor of Music at Southeast from 1989-1992. She maintains an active voice and piano studio with Southeast Music Academy. Mrs. Mims and her husband Bruce have two sons, George (Holley Hargraves) Aplin and Zac Mims, and three grandchildren, Jerry, Bree, and Violet.
