Christopher Goeke Applied Voice, Music Theater/Opera workshop, Chair Department of Music Christopher Goeke, professor of music, has performed throughout the country in opera, oratorio, musical theatre and concert with many companies including the State Repertory Theatre of New Jersey, Westchester Opera in New York, the Light Opera of Manhattan, Santa Fe Desert Choral, Central City Opera in Colorado and the Bach Society of St. Louis. In 2002, he made an appearance with the Belfast Performer’s Club in Ireland presenting a program of American Art Song. Some of his roles include Almaviva in Rossinin’s Il Barbieri di Siviglia, Tamino in The Magic Flute, Alfred in Stauss’ Die Fledermaus and as tenor soloist for Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, the Magnificat, The Messiah by Handel, and The Creation by Haydn. He holds both his D.M.A. and M.M. degrees from the University of Iowa. At Southeast, Dr. Goeke teaches voice, vocal pedagogy, vocal literature, music theater workshop and can also be found on the podium conducting operas and musicals at Southeast as well as choral festivals for area schools. Dr. Goeke has integrated a variety of electronic teaching tools into voice instruction at Southeast. These include a student technology practice room which features the “SmartMusic Studio” and recording capabilities. He is the Chairman of the Department of Music at Southeast.
