The Opera/Music Theatre Workshop produces two staged productions each year and collaborates with the Department of Theatre and Dance to produce major musicals and operas. Recent shows include:

  • A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum by Steven Sondheim
  • Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini
  • Babes in Arms by Rodgers and Hart
  • I Can’t Stand Wagner by Seymour Barab
  • Sugar by Jule Styne
  • The Medium by Gian Carlo Menotti
  • Music Man by Meredith Wilson
  • Threepenny Opera by Kurt Weill

All productions feature students in leading roles and are fully staged and performed with orchestra in Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall.

Southeast Opera/Music Theatre Workshop also offers many smaller productions such as:

  • Opera All-Stars (The life and times of an opera singer)
  • A Night on Broadway (Highlights of recent Broadway musicals)
  • The Lighter Side of Opera (Humorous operatic scenes)
  • Swingtime (Big band jazz show)
