Grade Level Expectations

Missouri’s Grade-Level Expectations (GLE’s) are useful to teachers as they prepare their students for year-end testing to meet No Child Left Behind Act requirements. The Missouri NASA Educator Resource Center has aligned many of NASA’s educator guides and activities to Missouri’s Science GLE’s. (Click on a guide title or follow directions below.)

These guides are written for specific grade levels. Missouri’s Science GLE’s are included in these guides at the targeted grade levels as well as other grade levels. We feel our alignment is especially useful as teachers locate activities and content for any grade level.

The alignment charts are colorful to make them easier to follow. Some columns of grade levels (K-11) are highlighted in a darker color to identify the specific grade levels for which NASA wrote a particular guide. Guides which contain GLE’s for additional grade levels have those grade levels identified in the fainter colored columns. Example: NASA Educator guide “3-2-1 Liftoff!” is written for K-2. Columns for grades K-2 are darker colored. The columns for grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9-11 are a lighter version of the same color. The lighter colored columns may contain content and/or activities related to grades 4-11 and are marked accordingly.

For your convenience, at the end of each GLE’s chart for an Educator Guide is a chart of Missouri’s Science Strands showing each grade level.
