Jackie Wortmann received a B.S. in Elementary Education and a M.S. in Natural Science with an emphasis in Science Education from Southeast Missouri State University.  During her long tenure as the Coordinator of the Missouri NASA Educator Resource Center, Jackie has also received specialized training in NASA-based education at NASA’s Langley and Glenn Research Centers, as well as Marshall, Johnson, Goddard, and Kennedy Space Flight Centers.  In addition to her duties as ERC Coordinator, Jackie also serves as the NASA Education Specialist for the southeast region of Missouri.

Jackie’s reputation as an outstanding educator, especially in regard to teacher in-service training, was already well established prior to her coming to the NASA program as a result of her work during six years of service in the Godwin Center for Science and Mathematics Education at Southeast.  Jackie’s long-standing rapport with Southeast Missouri area teachers is evident in the number of school workshops and presentations she is invited to conduct each year.  And her reputation extends even beyond southeast Missouri as evidenced by her selection to present at many professional conferences, including two appearances at the Space Exploration Educators Conference at Johnson Space Flight Center in Houston, Texas. 

Jackie has worked hard over the years to create a NASA presence in the heartland in terms of K-12 science, mathematics, and technology education.  She also played an important role in the development of the Southeast Explorer Mobile Museum and its NASA: Spirit of Discovery exhibit and in the showing of the International Space Station exhibit, the NASA 2040 exhibit, and the Space: Dare to Dream exhibit in Cape Girardeau.  Jackie is a dynamic educator and a valuable asset to the Missouri NASA Education Program.
