KRCU to Broadcast Eighth Congressional District Debate
KRCU plans to air a debate Oct. 11 between the candidates vying for Missouri’s Eighth Congressional District seat.
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 5, 2010 -- KRCU at Southeast Missouri State University announces plans to air a debate Oct. 11 between the candidates vying for Missouri’s Eighth Congressional District seat. The event is hosted by Southeast Missouri State University and will be held in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall at the University’s River Campus.
The live broadcast will begin at 7 p.m. on 90.9 FM in the Cape Girardeau area and 88.9 FM in the Farmington, Mo., area.
The moderator for the 90-minute debate will be Dr. Thomas Harte, professor emeritus of speech communication and theatre at Southeast. Panelists will be Mike Smythe, vice president and general manager of KFVS12 and The Heartland’s CW (WQWQ-TV), and Jon Rust, publisher of the Southeast Missourian and co-president of Rust Communications.
All four candidates for the Eighth District seat will participate in the debate: incumbent Jo Ann Emerson, (Republican), and challengers Larry Bill (Independent), Tommy Sowers (Democrat) and Rick Vandeven (Libertarian).
